The Role
As our Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, home-cooked meals that cater to a range of dietary needs and preferences.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to a set menu or residents' needs
- Work with the team to create varied, nutritious menus with seasonal ingredients
- Ensure all meals are presented to a high standard
- Maintain food hygiene and safety standards in accordance with current regulations (e.g. HACCP, Food Safety Act)
- Manage stock levels and place orders as needed
- Cater for special dietary requirements (e.g. modified meals, diabetic-friendly, allergen-aware etc.)
- Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards
- Work collaboratively with care and support staff to ensure residents' preferences are met
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Cook or Chef, ideally in a care or healthcare setting
- Understanding of dietary needs of older people and/or those with medical conditions
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
- Relevant Food Hygiene qualifications (Level 2 or higher preferred)
- Compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Reliable and flexible, including availability for weekend or holiday shifts
- The candidate needs to be trained to IDDSI.
