As our Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, home-cooked meals that cater to a range of dietary needs and preferences. You'll be a vital part of our care team, ensuring residents receive meals that are not only tasty and appealing but also support their health and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to a set menu or residents' needs
  • Work with the team to create varied, nutritious menus with seasonal ingredients
  • Ensure all meals are presented to a high standard
  • Maintain food hygiene and safety standards in accordance with current regulations (e.g. HACCP, Food Safety Act)
  • Manage stock levels and place orders as needed
  • Cater for special dietary requirements (e.g. modified meals, diabetic-friendly, allergen-aware etc.)
  • Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards
  • Work collaboratively with care and support staff to ensure residents' preferences are met

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Cook or Chef, ideally in a care or healthcare setting
  • Understanding of dietary needs of older people and/or those with medical conditions
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
  • Relevant Food Hygiene qualifications (Level 2 or higher preferred)
  • Compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Reliable and flexible, including availability for weekend or holiday shifts
  • The candidate needs to be trained to IDDSI.
