ROV Pilot / Technician

Location: Aberdeen, UK Approach: A mixture of flexible office/workshop duties combined with near and offshore operations as required

We are looking for a pioneering ROV Pilot/Technician based in Aberdeen, to support our Autonomous Subsea Robotics (ASV) Field Service Team within Incubation.

You will be working with the latest technologies to test, iterate and operate our fleet of ROVs to ensure they exceed customer expectations.

The ideal candidate will have a few years' experience, having completed a trainee ROV Pilot/Technician level of competency/certification and is now looking for the next step in their career.

  • What you can expect
  • Support the preparation, setup and execution of testing plans for our ROV platforms, supporting the move from R&D testing to real-world hardening and capability development.
  • Provide real-world, experience-based feedback to R&D teams to strengthen the ongoing development of our ROV platforms.
  • Support ROV testing and deployments in a variety of locations such as test tanks, lakes and the open ocean to build up operational strength in various conditions.
  • Provide support to tendering teams to support bids and ultimately deliver the solution to the customer.
  • Provide support to operational team members for technologies you have helped develop.
  • Take a strong role in the ownership of our ROV platforms instilling and a high level of care in the rest of the team to keep vehicles maintained and reliable.
  • Ensure that all ROV activities, from the workshop to the worksite and conducted with the highest level of consideration for Quality, Health, Safety and the Environment.

What you bring

  • An evidenced background in ROV Pilot/Technician roles working with systems such as Rovtech Valor, Seaeye Cougar or Argus Rover Compact systems in nearshore and offshore environments.
  • Evidence of experience integration sensors spreads to ROV platforms.
  • Evidence of experience maintaining and repairing ROV platforms.
  • A strong desire to be at the forefront – willing to try new ideas even if the outcome isn’t certain while keeping a keen eye on operational safety.
  • UK Citizenship and able to travel globally.
  • UK Driving License.
  • An ability to communicate complex technical information to audiences who may not be technically minded.
