Carer/Personal Assistant required in Retford, Nottinghamshire – two 27‑hour contracts. The role supports a young woman with Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy and Scoliosis, enabling her to engage in daily activities and maintain independence.
Responsibilities:
- Assist participation in activities such as shopping, baking, crafting, walks, bowling and cinema.
- Provide personal care, including toileting and grooming.
- Transfer the client using a hoist and support movement in a manual wheelchair.
- Perform household tasks: cleaning, laundry, cooking and support during hospital appointments.
- Offer patient, calm, person‑centred support and encourage independence.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Female, aged 18 years or over.
- Physically able to push and support a manual wheelchair.
- Outgoing, patient and calming manner.
- Person‑centred approach to care and promotion of independence.
- Experience or knowledge of Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy or Scoliosis is an advantage; full on‑the‑job training provided.
Working Hours & Shift Pattern:
- Two 27‑hour contracts.
- Flexible schedule with no fixed days – rotations are planned four weeks in advance.
- Shift types: Three 9‑hour waking nights (£12.71 hr). One 9‑hour sleeping night and two 9‑hour waking nights (£12.71 hr).
- After mandatory in‑house training, the hourly rate for waking nights increases.
- Night workers begin with a week of daytime work to build relationships and routine.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Starting hourly rate £12.71, increasing after training.
- 5.6 weeks pro‑rata holiday allowance.
