Carer/Personal Assistants required, Leicester LE4 – 24 ¾ hours per week.
I am a 31-year-old black African British female with various health conditions including inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, mobility problems, partial blindness in the left eye, and partial deafness in the right ear. I have an ileostomy, so my Personal Assistant would need to be comfortable around it; training will be provided for assistance during flares or when I am unwell.
I also experience mental health issues such as generalised anxiety disorder, OCD, depression, and PTSD. Support in calming down during panic attacks is essential, so someone experienced in de-escalation would be beneficial. I prefer my home to be organised in a specific way to avoid triggering my OCD and anxiety due to my vision impairment.
I advocate for disability rights and have worked with charities like Crohn’s and Colitis UK, raising awareness about my conditions.
Tasks:
- Personal care - support during flares or when unwell.
- Assistance with dressing and changing.
- Help with making and preparing food - breakfast and dinner.
- Household chores - hoovering, cleaning the bathroom, dusting, laundry, washing dishes, and ensuring everything is neat and tidy.
- Sorting medications and providing prompting/reminders due to memory issues.
Requirements:
- Must be English speaking, non-smoking, with good personal hygiene.
- Ability to handle blind and deaf situations, panic attacks, and mental health/social anxiety.
- Car driver required for doctor and hospital appointments, and occasional trips outside Leicester.
- Proactive individual who can act as my eyes and ears.
Permanent Contracted Hours – 24 ¾ hours per week (can be split between multiple Personal Assistants):
- Monday to Sunday - 2x calls: morning and evening.
- Monday to Friday - morning call flexible between 7am to 9am.
- Saturday to Sunday - 9am to 10am.
- Flexible social call usually around 1pm/2pm.
- Midweek cleaning call ideally on Wednesday.
- Saturday afternoon social call for shopping or activities.
£16.75 per hour. Additional hours available. For further information and to apply, please email recruitment@rosekel.com.
