We are looking for a passionate and motivated Nursery Chef to join our team in Redcar and take pride in preparing nutritious, freshly made meals for children in a high-quality nursery environment. This is a key role supporting children’s health, wellbeing and enjoyment of mealtimes. The successful candidate will have a genuine love of food, a strong understanding of food safety and hygiene, and the ability to create balanced, age-appropriate meals that meet the needs of young children, including those with special dietary requirements.
These brand-new facilities opened on Embleton Court in September 2025, the nursery has grown rapidly and now requires a competent cook to prepare 30-50 fresh meals daily onsite for children, as well as snacks and tasters for our early years employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook healthy, well-balanced meals for children of different age groups (0-2, 2-4 years)
- Input in creating menus with Rosedene’s chef team, in line with nutritional guidelines, dietary requirements and nursery standards
- Ensure all food preparation and storage complies with food safety and hygiene regulations
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen
- Monitor food temperatures during preparation and service to ensure safety standards are met
- Manage stock levels, order supplies and minimise waste
- Work closely with nursery teams to support children with allergies or special dietary needs
- Support smooth and timely meal service within the nursery
About You
- Previous experience in food preparation or cooking, ideally within a childcare, education or similar setting
- Sound knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment
- Experience of menu planning and accommodating dietary needs is desirable
- A positive, flexible and team-focused approach
- A commitment to providing high-quality, nutritious meals for young children
This is a rewarding opportunity to play an important part in children’s daily routines and development by creating enjoyable, healthy meals in a supportive and caring environment. This position will be based permanently from Redcar from the end of August, however there is a temporary role required at the Rosedene Ormesby position to support a busy nursery.
