We are looking for a passionate and motivated Nursery Chef to join our team in Redcar and take pride in preparing nutritious, freshly made meals for children in a high-quality nursery environment. This is a key role supporting children’s health, wellbeing and enjoyment of mealtimes. The successful candidate will have a genuine love of food, a strong understanding of food safety and hygiene, and the ability to create balanced, age-appropriate meals that meet the needs of young children, including those with special dietary requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook healthy, well-balanced meals for children of different age groups (0-2, 2-4 years).
  • Input in creating menus with Rosedene’s chef team, in line with nutritional guidelines, dietary requirements and nursery standards.
  • Ensure all food preparation and storage complies with food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen.
  • Monitor food temperatures during preparation and service to ensure safety standards are met.
  • Manage stock levels, order supplies and minimise waste.
  • Work closely with nursery teams to support children with allergies or special dietary needs.
  • Support smooth and timely meal service within the nursery.

About You:

  • Previous experience in food preparation or cooking, ideally within a childcare, education or similar setting.
  • Sound knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen environment.
