Your leadership will ensure a meaningful and lasting impact on our students and the staff who support them.

As the operational lead of Rosebery Connect (SEND team), our Deputy SENCo will lead and coordinate the SEN provision, championing inclusive practice, monitoring student progress and working with all stakeholders involved in ensuring students are supported to reach their full educational potential. The post holder will also act as the lead Nurture Teacher, working closely with specified individuals, ensuring our most vulnerable students effectively transition between the primary and secondary phases.

The successful candidate will manage a team of five Teaching Assistants and be actively involved in ensuring all members of staff recognise and fulfil their statutory responsibilities to students with special educational needs. They will also disseminate good practice in meeting individual special educational needs across the school and provide accessible learning experiences for students with special educational needs and disabilities.

What we are looking for:

  • A sound understanding of the SEN code of practice and experience of working with young people with SEN needs across the secondary phase.
  • An empathetic and inspiring leader, with a genuine desire to create a safe and nurturing learning experience for all children.
  • A strong communicator who has a high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Someone who can motivate, inspire and challenge others, to produce the best outcomes for the students, team and the school.

Rosebery School is a vibrant and stimulating place to work. We have a record of high performance but continually challenge all members of our community to improve further, in order to fulfil our moral purpose to provide the best possible educational experience for our students, who are a delight to teach.

We set high expectations for all, but this is accompanied by a support system for students and staff which includes universal access to coaching and mentoring, significant opportunities for individualised personal, academic and professional development and a culture which emphasises kindness and integrity above all.

We are committed to creating a happy, purposeful and secure environment which provides the opportunity for all to develop and grow; to build confidence and self-belief; and to be enriched and stimulated so that everyone plays an active and positive part of the Rosebery, Epsom and wider communities.
