The Playgroup Manager will oversee the daily operations of the playgroup, ensuring a high standard of care, compliance with regulations, and the effective delivery of age-appropriate learning activities. Responsibilities include managing staff, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, liaising with parents, and developing programs that support children's development. The role also involves administrative duties such as managing the waiting list and register, staff training, and compliance documentation. This is a part-time, on-site position. Position to start August 2026.

Qualifications

  • Experience in early childhood education, program planning, and child development
  • Strong leadership, team management, and organisational skills
  • Proficiency in administrative tasks, managing waiting list and record-keeping
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with children, parents, and staff
  • Knowledge of safety, safeguarding policies, and regulatory compliance in early childhood settings
  • First Aid certification and relevant qualifications in childcare or early education (e.g., Level 3 Childcare Qualification or equivalent)
  • Previous experience working in a playgroup or early years environment is preferred
  • Ability to create an inclusive and supportive atmosphere for children and families from diverse backgrounds

Hours

16 hours per week, City of Edinburgh term time Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday. 9-12:30. Plus 2 hours flexible administration time.
