Location: Cedar Grange, Main Street, Cherry Burton, Beverley HU17 7RF

Salary: £14.25 Per Hour

*Note that Visa Sponsorship is not available for this role*

About Us:

Roseberry Care is a warm and welcoming community with over 1,500 dedicated professionals across 25 homes—from Morpeth to Milton Keynes. We support nearly 1,200 residents, offering everything from elderly and dementia care to care for younger adults with neurological or physical disabilities. At the heart of everything we do? Kindness, inclusivity, and putting people first—always.

Your Role:

As an Assistant Cook you will support the Head Cook in the preparation and delivery of meals. This role involves assisting with cooking, ensuring food safety standards are met, and maintaining a clean, organised kitchen environment. The Second Cook may also take responsibility for the kitchen in the absence of the First Cook.

With just 26 residents, our Care Home offers a warm and welcoming environment where catering is both rewarding and manageable. As our Assistant Cook, you’ll have the opportunity to prepare homely, nutritious meals with the time and flexibility to focus on quality rather than volume. The smaller scale of our service means you can easily accommodate individual preferences, dietary needs, and special occasions, creating a dining experience that truly enhances residents’ wellbeing. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys cooking with care and taking pride in making a real difference every day.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Assist in preparing and cooking meals according to menu plans and dietary needs
  • Ensure meals are served on time and presented to a high standard
  • Work closely with the 1st Cook to support daily kitchen operations
  • Help manage food prep during busy periods
  • Assist stock rotation and checking deliveries
  • Adhere to all food hygiene, health, and food safety standards

What We’re Looking For:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery or equivalent preferred
  • Level 3 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience in Cooking in a similar setting
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently when needed
  • Reliable, flexible, and a strong team player
  • Valid driving licence and access to own vehicle, due to location

What You’ll Get in Return:

  • Supportive, friendly team environment
  • Genuine career progression across 25 care homes
  • Employee Assist Programme for mental health & well-being support
  • Go the Extra Mile (GEM) Awards – celebrating your amazing work
  • Employee Of The Month – Appreciating our employees
  • FlexEarn – access your earnings early for any extra shifts worked
  • Refer a Friend Scheme – earn £200 for every successful referral

Ready to Make a Difference? If you’re passionate about food, proud of your profession, and want to be part of something special—we’d love to hear from you.
