Our client is a world-leading manufacturer, recognised internationally for innovation, quality, and engineering excellence. They are looking for an enthusiastic and capable Operations Supervisor to help lead their daily operations and support the continued growth and improvement of their business.

Reporting into the Operations Director, playing a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of our clients manufacturing Operation and Sales Desk. Responsible for setting the strategic direction, you will be ensuring daily activities are delivered efficiently, priorities are coordinated, and teams are supported to achieve operational objectives. This is a hands-on leadership role, leading the Production team and Sales Desk staff (10-15 people across both areas), ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the high standards our customers expect. Working closely with the Operations Director to implement improvements, develop employees and drive operational excellence across both manufacturing and customer order processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Operations Director in the day-to-day management of manufacturing Operations and the Sales Desk.
  • Lead, motivate and develop Production and Sales Desk teams, promoting a positive, collaborative and accountable working culture.
  • Plan and prioritise workloads to ensure production schedules, customer orders and Sales Desk activities are completed efficiently and on time.
  • Ensure the Sales Desk delivers excellent customer service by supporting the team to meet agreed response times for customer enquiries, quotations, order processing and complaint resolution.
  • Monitor Sales Desk performance, identifying opportunities to improve responsiveness, communication, accuracy and the overall customer experience.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations to improve productivity, quality, efficiency, workflow and workplace organisation.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities within the Sales Desk, streamlining order processing, reducing administrative waste, improving communication and ensuring customers receive timely, accurate responses throughout their experience.
  • Offer effective communication between Production, the Sales Desk and other departments to maintain operational performance.
  • Provide regular feedback to the Operations Director on team performance, operational issues and improvement opportunities.

Skills required:

  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong people management and communication skills.
  • The ability to plan, organise and prioritise workloads effectively.
  • A practical approach to problem solving and decision making.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and business or production systems.
  • The ability to build strong working relationships across all areas of the business.
  • A hands-on attitude and willingness to lead by example.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
  • Health & Safety or supervisory qualifications.
