Our market leading client are at the forefront of the Mechanical Handling Industry. They require an experienced Electrical maintenance engineer to assist the team in the design of their projects including control systems design, build, testing and commissioning activities in order to deliver best in class designs and operational excellence to their clients. This position is a combination of office and site based.
Main duties and Responsibilities:
- Office Based
- Support the control system design team in the specification and integration of the electrical field devices
- Generate electrical cable block diagrams and cable schedules
- Generate electrical cabling sizing calculations
- Generate cable containment information
- Working with mechanical resource, ensure the electrical equipment is integrated into the overall design
- Generate Control System Testing and Commissioning Schedules
- Generate Control System Site Acceptance Test Procedures
- Produce Risk Assessments
- Carry out electrical control system installation works
- Verify the control system elements
- Set up/configure any Variable Speed Drives
- Carry out any electrical fault-finding activities
- Carry out control system electrical testing activities
- Carry out Factory Acceptance Testing
- Carry out Site Acceptance Testing
- Produce Reactive Risk Assessment and Method Statements
- Carry out project modernisation work
- To attend breakdowns, identify faults and carry out effective repairs
Key Skills/Experience
- Essential
- Knowledge and experience of Overhead Electrical Travelling Cranes
- Previous experience in the installation and testing of electrical control systems
- Familiarity with safe systems of work, permit systems etc and knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation
- Knowledge of Electrical Wiring Regulations
- Conversant with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
- Lodge away, as required, dependant on the job and location
- Knowledge of Machinery Safety Regulations (BS EN 13849-1)
- This role may require security clearance to SC level
- Hold current 17th Edition Wiring Regulations certification
- Knowledge of control system instrumentation such as Laser Positioning systems, position and speed encoders, safe access systems
- PLC/HIM literate to enable testing, commissioning and fault finding using programming laptop.
