Our client is a well-established and respected care home in Cwmbran. They are looking for an RGN to work 3 nights a week on a permanent basis.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

  • To support Manager and Clinical Lead in maintaining high standards of care at all times.
  • To act as Nurse in Charge in the absence of Senior Nursing Staff, if Level 1.
  • To provide general nursing care for approximately 49 residents.
  • To supervise and, where appropriate, train junior staff.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure a high standard of nursing care is provided to service users at all times.
  • Control and administer drugs in accordance with appropriate regulations.
  • Assist with the staff training and induction of new recruits to the Home.
  • Maintain resident, drug, and other records as appropriate, ensuring that accidents, etc. are properly reported.
  • Take report at the commencement of the shift and give a report at the end of the shift.
  • Ensure adherence to the Codes of Practice laid down by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • Investigate nursing care in accordance with General Practitioner instruction and individual care plans.
  • Review and evaluate care plans in compliance with National Minimum Standards.
  • Liaison with GPs and other agencies as required.
  • To be a point of contact for service user relatives and representatives.
  • Ensure Health and Safety issues are dealt with promptly and all equipment is used in an approved manner.
  • To deal with grievances and complaints in accordance with the policy of the Home.

REQUIREMENTS

Educational/Qualifications/Knowledge

  • Registered Nursing Level One or Two (E)
  • The ageing process, including the physical and psychological needs of older people (E)
  • Understand the rights of older people (E)
  • Understand the requirement for good Health and Safety practices (E)

Experience

  • Nursing experience in the care of vulnerable adults (D)
  • Be able to demonstrate experience of working in a caring setting. (D)
  • Have worked with older people including people from different cultures (D)
  • Have experience with training or development of junior staff (D)
  • Experience of team working environment (D)

Aptitude and Skills

  • The ability to devise and review care plans based on individual needs (E)
  • Be able to communicate with service users and colleagues both verbally and written (E)
  • Be able to work in a safe manner (E)
