Rosa Engineering Ltd is expanding its HV commissioning and protection capability and is seeking an experienced Commissioning & Protection Engineer to lead, develop and own this specialist discipline within the business. You will be the technical lead for protection testing and commissioning, shaping how Rosa delivers HV protection services to clients across generation, grid, industrial and energy-from-waste sectors. You will be trusted to work autonomously, supported by investment in training, test equipment, and engineering backup, with a clear route to growing this function as demand increases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver HV protection commissioning and testing, including:
  • Overcurrent & earth fault protection
  • Differential protection (transformer, feeder, busbar as applicable)
  • Distance and feeder protection (where applicable)
  • Carry out secondary injection testing of protection relays
  • Carry out primary injection testing
  • G99 commissioning & compliance testing
  • Review and interpret:
    • Protection philosophies
    • Relay settings
    • Single line diagrams and schematics
  • Produce clear, professional documentation
  • Liaise directly with clients, DNOs, ICPs and project teams
  • Develop testing procedures
  • Select and specify test equipment
  • Shape future protection service offerings
  • What we are looking for:

    • Strong, demonstrable experience in HV protection testing and commissioning
    • Comfortable working independently and owning technical delivery
    • Proven experience with:
    • Secondary & primary injection testing
    • CT testing methodologies
    • Protection relay testing (manufacturer-agnostic)
  • Solid understanding of:
    • UK grid connection requirements (including G99)
    • HV systems, switchgear and protection schemes
  • Professional, client-facing approach
  • Desirable (but not essential):

    • Experience across generation, EFW, grid or industrial HV systems
    • Familiarity with multiple relay vendors and associated software (e.g. Siemens, ABB, Schneider, SEL, GE, etc.)
    • SAP / AP / HV Authorisation (or previous experience operating under Safety Rules)

    Package:

    • £65,000 – £80,000 per annum, depending on experience
    • Company/commercial vehicle
    • Bonus / performance incentive (tied to delivery or growth of the capability)
