Description

PJD Mechanical Engineering | Doncaster Based | UK-Wide Travel

PJD Mechanical Engineering is looking for an experienced HSE Advisor to join our team, providing hands‑on Health, Safety and Environmental support across our operations and client sites throughout the UK.

Based from our Doncaster operation, this is a nationwide travelling role and will involve regular travel to client and operational sites across the UK. We are therefore looking for someone who enjoys being out within the operation, working directly with project teams and maintaining a visible HSE presence on site.

You will play an important role in promoting a positive and proactive safety culture across the business, working closely with employees, supervisors, managers and clients to ensure our operations remain safe, compliant and continually improving.

The Role

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing visible, hands‑on HSE support across client and operational sites throughout the UK.
  • Conducting site inspections, audits and incident investigations.
  • Developing and reviewing Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Supporting contractor management, site inductions and performance monitoring.
  • Delivering toolbox talks, HSE briefings and internal training.
  • Working with supervisors and managers to strengthen safety leadership and promote positive HSE behaviours.
  • Supporting client, external and ISO audits.
  • Monitoring HSE performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Promoting proactive hazard identification and safe working practices.
  • Supporting environmental initiatives and incident management.
  • Building effective working relationships with employees, project teams, management and clients across multiple locations.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a practical and approachable HSE professional who is comfortable working independently and engaging with people at all levels of the business.

You will ideally have experience within manufacturing, fabrication, heavy engineering, mechanical contracting, construction or a similar operational environment.

A NEBOSH General Certificate is essential, alongside a strong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation.

You will also need to be comfortable with regular UK-wide travel, as travelling to and supporting client and operational sites forms a significant part of this position.

You should have:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation.
  • Previous HSE experience within an engineering, manufacturing, construction or similar operational environment.
  • Experience conducting site inspections, audits and incident investigations.
