About Roots Plants
Roots is a fast-growing online garden retailer dedicated to revolutionising digital plant shopping. We aim to make gardening modern, accessible, and easy for everyone. We collaborate closely with passionate UK growers, sharing their knowledge through exciting content, helpful videos, and a website designed to deliver an experience superior to the traditional garden centre. Following our recent expansion and the setup of a brand-new, modern nursery in the Cotswolds, we are excited to grow our London‑hybrid digital marketing team.
The Role
We are seeking a highly analytical and results-driven Performance Marketing Executive to maximise sales performance and Return on Ad Spend (ROAS). This is a hands‑on role where you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day execution and optimisation of our paid digital campaigns, primarily within Google Ads. This role also involves competitive pricing analysis and execution, making it a fantastic opportunity to work beyond the ads platform—making impactful changes to the website and products. Your campaigns will directly influence revenue, customer acquisition, and lifetime value. You’ll work closely with the Senior Marketing Executive and Product Manager to optimise the B2C website and customer journey.
If you live and breathe data, A/B testing, and maximising conversions, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
- Performance Marketing Execution & Optimization: Optimise paid campaigns on Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Meta Ads, Display, and Paid Social. Monitor performance, provide insights, and recommend optimisations. Drive measurable results for conversion, CLV, ROAS, and revenue growth. Develop creative and testing strategies to acquire and retain high‑value customers.
- Strategic Pricing & Commercial Analysis: Conduct thorough research into market trends, competitor pricing strategies, and product offerings to inform commercial decisions. Utilise market and internal data to propose and frequently execute price changes and tests.
- Data, Tracking & Reporting: Ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and attribution across all digital channels, using tools like Google Analytics 4 (GA4). Conduct deep‑dive analysis of campaign and product performance, proactively identifying high‑impact trends, uncovering optimisation opportunities, and addressing underperformance. Prepare clear, actionable reports.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2+ years of proven, hands‑on experience in a Performance Marketing, Paid Media, or Digital Marketing role.
- Ideally managing a significant budget, running data‑driven, revenue‑focused digital campaigns in B2C e‑commerce.
- Demonstrable expertise in managing and optimising campaigns within the Google Ads platform (Search and Shopping).
- Experience with Microsoft Ads and/or Meta Ads Manager is highly valued.
- Exceptional data analysis skills, with high proficiency in spreadsheet software (Excel/Google Sheets).
- Deep understanding of performance metrics, optimisation, and reporting.
- A proactive, data‑led approach to continuous optimisation, testing, and learning.
- Strong understanding of e‑commerce business drivers, including concepts like ROAS, CPA, LTV, and conversion funnels.
- Analytical, commercially minded, and comfortable in a fast‑paced startup environment.
- Bachelor's Degree ideally in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Direct experience with other advertising channels such as TikTok Ads or Pinterest.
- Familiarity with tracking implementation, tagging, and complex attribution models.
- Strong knowledge of plants and horticulture.
- Industry experience.
Why This Role is Fun (and Exciting)
- Real ownership of performance — your work directly drives growth.
- Close collaboration with product and leadership — your voice matters.
- Small, ambitious team with big plans and no red tape!
- A chance to help scale one of the most exciting brands in online horticulture.
