Workshop Coordinator - Nature & Creative Arts Roots Media CIC | Torbay, Devon
Love nature, creativity and helping young people try something new? Come and work with us.
Roots Media CIC is looking for two Workshop Coordinators to help bring a Torbay-based environmental arts project to life. You’ll join our small, youth‑led team to deliver hands‑on nature and art workshops in local schools, helping pupils discover the wildlife on their doorstep and turn their discoveries into a shared digital artwork.
The details
Pay: £15 per hour.
Contract: Part‑time, fixed‑term, from 1 January to 1 April 2027.
Hours: 48 hours per coordinator across the project, covering eight workshops, including preparation, delivery and debriefs.
Location: On‑site at partner schools across Torbay, with flexible preparation arrangements.
Schedule: Workshops will usually take place during school hours, Monday to Friday.
What you’ll be doing
Working alongside the Roots Media team, a Lead Artist and school staff, you’ll:
Help set up, run and pack away creative biodiversity workshops.
Support pupils as they explore local nature, discover pollinators and create artwork using recycled and low‑impact materials.
Help collect and organise artwork, photographs and stories for the final project.
Make activities welcoming and inclusive, encouraging every pupil to get involved.
Follow safeguarding, accessibility and environmental procedures, with training and support from our team.
Why join Roots?
Roots Media CIC was founded by three teenagers in 2024 to help young people find their place in the climate and nature movement.
We’re a small, collaborative team that values young people’s ideas and creates paid opportunities to put them into action. You’ll get practical experience, full training and the chance to contribute to a creative project celebrating Torbay’s wildlife.
Training will cover workshop facilitation, safeguarding, risk assessments and nature connection techniques.
Interviews: 2-4 December 2026.
Induction and training: Early January 2027.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and particularly encourage applications from people underrepresented in the environmental sector, including working‑class young people, ethnic minority candidates, LGBTQIA+ people and disabled people.
