Purpose of the role

As a kitchen porter you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen to ensure smooth operations and support the chefs. Where appropriate you may be required to assist with basic food prep, such as peeling vegetables, and help with receiving and storing deliveries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be an integral part of the kitchen team.
  • Assisting with basic food prep, such as peeling vegetables, portioning ingredients etc.
  • Restocking clean plates, utensils, and kitchen tools to ensure chefs have what they need.
  • Assisting chefs in setting up and closing down the kitchen at the start and end of service.
  • Assisting with unloading and organising food deliveries, ensuring correct storage.
  • Washing dishes, cutlery, and cooking utensils efficiently using the dishwasher or by hand.
  • Keeping kitchen floors, surfaces, and storage areas clean and hazard-free.
  • Keeping kitchen equipment clean and well-maintained, including dishwashers, ovens, and fridges.
  • Handling cleaning chemicals safely and ensuring proper sanitation of work areas.
  • Reporting any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to management.
  • Monitoring and refilling kitchen supplies, such as cleaning products, hand towels, and dish soap.
  • Ensuring bins are emptied, and waste is disposed of properly, including recycling and composting.
  • Following food safety regulations and maintaining high hygiene standards.
  • Putting the planet in the forefront of all business decisions.
  • Taking part in all company social responsibility initiatives.

  • Competitive salary up to £12.60ph and discretionary bonus scheme.
