Our thriving client based on the outskirts of Ware is recruiting for a dynamic, driven and experienced customer-centric Operations Manager to join the Leadership team and release the Operations Director of their daily workload. This would include taking full responsibility for managing the day-to-day operational activities such as order processing, customer service, inventory control, purchasing, warehouse, logistics, production, mobile service engineers and installation teams ensuring highly efficient operations and a consistent world class level of service to our customers. This is a critical role in managing seamless coordination across all functions/departments, driving efficiency, and consistently meeting/exceeding customer demands. This role requires a proactive leader with strong organisational skills, the ability to manage teams with excellent people skills, experience in optimising operational processes and orderliness in all areas of responsibility. This is a full-time role working onsite in their offices based on the outskirts of Ware (8am β 5pm, Monday β Friday) and offers a competitive salary plus bonus scheme, free lunch and other excellent benefits. Due to our clients location candidates must have their own transport.
Key Responsibilities
- Order Processing & Customer Service
- Accurately and efficiently process all orders same day.
- Resolve customer queries to the agreed SLA and ensure timely processing to support fulfilment.
- Monitor ICU orders that have slipped on promised dates to keep customers informed and resolve quickly.
- Coach and train staff to deliver a world class customer experience.
- Oversee procurement, inventory management, and supplier relationships.
- Ensure timely sourcing of materials and products to meet demand.
- Develop strategies to optimise supply chain efficiency and reduce costs.
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and negotiate best pricing and terms.
- Manage receiving, storage, and distribution of products; ensure accurate order fulfilment.
- Maintain a tidy, organised, safe facility and ensure all orders are despatched as promised.
- Cross-train team for flexibility and implement shift patterns for consistent service.
- Lead projects such as racking installation, workspace changes, and departmental moves.
- Responsible for maintenance and safety of plant, machinery, racking, premises and grounds including pest control using staff and contractors.
- Oversee production processes across in-house print works, embroidery, heat seal, stock line, and product assembly.
- Understand all machinery and processes; implement lean principles and improve productivity.
- Cross-train staff, maintain clean/tidy production areas, and adjust schedules to meet deadlines.
- Manage engineers and installers; ensure visit dates are met and feedback is reported promptly.
- Adhere to standard SLAs for all visits.
- Lead, inspire, and coach staff while upholding company values and culture.
- Be self-driven, punctual, honest, and solutions-focused.
- Attend meetings as required and ensure confidentiality.
- Recruit, allocate and cross-train labour to meet demand efficiently.
- Ensure all operations are conducted safely, appropriately, and cost-effectively.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and promote collaborative communication across teams.
- Analyse operational data and KPIs to identify areas for improvement.
- Respond to communications promptly and implement process improvements to enhance productivity.
- Report performance insights to senior management and board; contribute to future planning and budgeting.
- Monitor and maximise individual and departmental output.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 5 years proven experience in an operations management role within a similar industry.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire.
- Excellent knowledge of supply chain, production, and warehouse management.
- Analytical mind-set with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
- Have a sales-led mentality with a strong customer focus.
- Experience in recruiting and managing staff.
- Need a burning passion for tidiness and organisation in the workplace.
- Willingness to take final responsibility for delivering on the desired outcomes.
- Highly organised with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
