The Role: We’re looking for an experienced Technical Manager to lead food safety and quality at our food manufacturing site. You’ll take ownership of the Quality Management System, maintain BRC certification, and drive continuous improvement in all technical standards. Working closely with the senior management team, you’ll ensure our products and processes consistently meet the highest standards of food safety, quality, and compliance.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Manage and maintain the Quality Management System to ensure the full implementation and compliance of the requirements are met.
- Maintain site BRC certification and lead in external site visits, and audits.
- Oversee HACCP, TACCP, and VACCP systems, ensuring robust food safety controls and risk management.
- Lead investigations into non-conformances and quality issues, implementing effective corrective actions.
- Foster a strong quality culture, supporting and developing technical and production teams.
- Support Technical and Production staff through effective leadership and communication, including training, development, motivation, direction and performance.
- Keep up to date with food safety legislation and retailer standards, ensuring site compliance.
- Manage supplier approval and performance, maintaining technical and regulatory standards.
- Support the business’s technical strategy, managing budgets and technical projects efficiently.
- Oversee supplier compliance and product quality by managing specifications, documentation, factory trials, and process validations to support efficient product development.
Person Specification:
- Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar Technical or Quality role within FMCG (high-risk category preferred).
- Strong knowledge of BRC Storage & Distribution and BRC Food Manufacturing standards.
- Proven leadership and people management experience.
- Experience leading and participating in internal, external and customer audits.
- Excellent supplier management, influencing, and project management abilities.
