We are looking for an experienced contractor to join our platform team, focusing on the modernisation and optimisation of business-critical applications. This role will involve working primarily with Java-based systems, helping to improve maintainability, reduce technical debt, and lower platform operating costs. You'll be responsible for analysing existing applications, implementing enhancements, resolving support issues, and contributing to the ongoing evolution of a complex legacy estate.
Key Technical Skills
- Strong commercial experience with Java
- Experience with Spring Framework / Spring Boot
- Knowledge of AWS cloud services and infrastructure
- Experience working with legacy systems and application modernisation
- Exposure to modern front-end technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular or similar)
- Understanding of RESTful APIs and distributed systems
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern development practices
- Ability to troubleshoot, support, and optimise complex applications
- Experience reducing technical debt and improving system maintainability
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and scalable application design
