We are looking for an ambitious Sous Chef to join our talented team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves fresh food, works well under pressure and wants to play a key role in one of Kendal's busiest food-led pubs. Working closely with our Head Chef, you’ll help lead the kitchen, inspire the team and ensure every dish leaving the pass is something you’re proud of.

Working Hours: Averaging 48-50 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
  • Assisting with menu development, daily specials and seasonal ideas.
  • Preparing and delivering consistently high-quality food.
  • Leading the kitchen and making key decisions in the Head Chef’s absence.
  • Training, motivating and developing junior chefs.
  • Maintaining exceptional standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and food safety.
  • Helping manage stock, ordering and reducing waste.
  • Ensuring service runs smoothly, even during our busiest periods.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Passionate about great food and hospitality.
  • A natural leader who enjoys developing others.
  • Calm, organised and able to perform under pressure.
  • Reliable with excellent timekeeping.
  • Professional, positive and approachable.
  • Committed to maintaining high standards in every aspect of the kitchen.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ cooking experience as Sous Chef or strong junior Sous ready to step up.
  • Food hygiene knowledge and understanding of kitchen compliance.
  • Available to work a minimum of 48 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.
