The Company

Our client is a well-established specialist contractor operating within the commercial flooring and fit-out sector. They deliver a wide range of projects across London and the South-East, working with Tier 1 contractors, main contractors and end-user clients. Their portfolio predominantly consists of commercial office refurbishment, new build, and fit-out schemes, incorporating specialist flooring packages including screeding, resin flooring, floor preparation and associated fit-out works. The business has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across both refurbishment and new-build environments. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

The Role

Working within the Fit-Out division, the Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial management and delivery of projects from commencement through to final account. The company operates a structure whereby the Estimator remains involved post-contract following project award, with the Quantity Surveyor taking ownership of the commercial delivery phase. The successful candidate will work closely with operational teams across a variety of commercial fit-out, flooring, screeding and resin flooring projects throughout London.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full commercial management of projects from award through to final account.
  • Preparation and submission of interim valuations and applications for payment.
  • Pricing, negotiating and agreeing variations.
  • Cost reporting and budget management.
  • Subcontractor procurement, management and payment certification.
  • Cash flow forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Liaising with clients, subcontractors and project delivery teams.
  • Negotiating and agreeing final accounts.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered within agreed commercial and financial targets.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within flooring, fit-out, interiors, refurbishment or general construction.
  • Understanding of commercial flooring, screeding or resin flooring packages would be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of valuations, variations, cost control and final accounts.
  • Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
