Are you a welcoming and organised individual looking to make a meaningful contribution in a faith-based environment? The University Chaplaincy at Newman House is seeking a Receptionist & Administrative Assistant to be the first point of contact for visitors and provide essential administrative support to the Senior Chaplain and Finance & Operations Manager.
Responsibilities
- Provide a warm and professional welcome at reception
- Handle phone calls, messages, mail, and visitor access
- Support day-to-day office administration including printing, data entry, and contractor liaison
- Assist with Health & Safety record-keeping and risk assessments for activities and events
- Coordinate summer vacation hostel bookings
- Support chaplaincy activities and pastoral functions

Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently
- Calm and creative problem‑solving approach
- Discretion, empathy, and sound judgement
- Experience in administrative or secretarial roles
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Publisher, Forms)
- Understanding of the Catholic Church and a commitment to its mission
- Experience working in a faith-based or charitable setting is welcome but not essential

Salary & Benefits
£14.85 per hour | Permanent | Part-time Monday – Friday 9am-2.30pm | Newman House, 111 Gower Street, London WC1E 6AR | Closing date 11th November 2025 | Interview date to be confirmed.
