Romac Logistics is expanding and recruiting additional HGV CLASS 1 Drivers ahead of the opening of our brand-new 251,000 sq ft East Midlands logistics facility located at Junction 29A on the M1 corridor.

Have you gained a few months of Class 1 driving experience and are now looking to move from agency work into a permanent, full-time role with a company willing to invest in your development? At Romac Logistics, we understand that many drivers struggle to progress in their careers because employers often demand years of experience. Our Driver Development Programme is designed to bridge that gap by providing drivers with the support, mentoring and opportunities needed to build confidence and gain valuable experience within a professional transport operation.
We're particularly interested in speaking to drivers who have already gained some commercial Class 1 experience, whether through agency assignments, seasonal contracts or permanent employment, and are now looking for long-term stability and career progression. Agency experience is welcomed.
Roles And Responsibilities:
- Class 1 trunking work between depots and RDCs
- Refrigerated trailer deliveries
- Vehicle safety checks and defect reporting
- Completion of transport documentation
- Compliance with Driver Hours and Working Time Directive regulations
- Safe and professional operation at all times
- Building experience across a variety of routes and customer operations
Initially, routes will be selected to support your development, confidence and experience levels.
You’ll Receive:
- Full-day induction and driving assessment
- Dedicated Driver Trainer support
- Ongoing mentoring from experienced drivers and transport managers
- Structured route planning designed to build confidence and experience
- Gradual exposure to a variety of routes and operational requirements
- One-month and three-month development reviews
- Ongoing coaching and support from our Transport Management team
Experience within a busy chilled distribution and RDC environment.
Skills And Experience:
- Valid UK Class 1 (C+E) Licence
- Driver CPC Qualification
- Digital Tachograph Card
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Strong commitment to safety and professionalism
- Good communication skills
Drivers with 2+ months commercial Class 1 experience are encouraged to apply. Agency experience welcomed.
