Following our recent expansion into London, we are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing commercial team. Current projects are located in Amersham, High Barnet and Reading, with further schemes in the pipeline across Marylebone, West London and North East London, and potentially other locations throughout the Home Counties. You must therefore be willing and able to travel to site as required. Project values typically range from £750k to £3m, across a mix of Traditional and Design & Build contracts, primarily under JCT forms. As a growing business, we offer genuine long-term progression, with a clear pathway to a Commercial Director role for the right candidate. This is a full-time, hybrid position, based in London, with flexibility for some home working.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing project costs to ensure value for money and commercial compliance
- Preparing and managing Bills of Quantities (BOQs)
- Sub-Contract procurement
- Cost planning, forecasting, cost control and reporting throughout the project lifecycle
- Valuations, variations, final accounts and subcontractor management
- Providing accurate financial reporting and commercial advice to senior management
- Working collaboratively with project managers, site teams, clients, consultants and supply chain partners
- Supporting the continued development of commercial systems and best practice within the business
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in cost control, cost planning and cost management within a main contractor environment, as lead QS
- Strong experience producing and managing Bills of Quantities (BOQs)
- Excellent cost reporting and financial analysis skills
- Strong commercial awareness and contract knowledge (JCT)
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Solid understanding of construction techniques, project delivery and relevant regulations
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline (essential)
