Our client are a prominent trading, financing and infrastructure group, working across the Global commodities cycle. In line with significant business growth throughout 2026, they are now looking to appoint a first line operational risk manager to help provide advisory services to both financial and physical traders. Key desks that you will support include industrial metals, bulk metals, precious metals, crude oil and agriculture (oilseeds, cereals, softs, biofuel). This is a unique role which will offer excellent variety in terms of tasks as well as a rewarding professional challenge within a highly evolutive markets environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assessing new products and business initiatives as well as underlying operating risks.
  • For physical trading this may include storage and warehousing, refining facilities, logistics, pricing, hedging, sanctions, political risk and liquidity.
  • For financial trading, this will include exchange rules, in particular LME, ICE and CME, trading behaviours and market analysis.
  • You would work closely with trading staff on a daily basis, as well as counterparts on the group operational risk, regulatory compliance and sanctions teams.

Skills Required

  • 6 + years’ experience in physical and financial commodity markets, with exposure to either base and/or precious metal trading, oil or agriculture.
  • Experience within a commodity trading house or commodities focused bank is preferable.
  • A demonstrable understanding of non-financial risks in a regulated business.
  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to quickly build credibility and trust.
  • An innovative risk mindset to constructively challenge commercial stakeholders.
