We are looking for an Associate to join the existing Mechanical & Electrical Building Services (MEP) team that provides engineering support to several Blue-Chip International Brands. Experience within the automotive, commercial/industrial, retail, residential, and education sectors is essential, with experience with steam and in clean/dry rooms desirable.

Position Details

  • Academic requirement: Chartered Engineer (CEng) with either CIBSE or IMechE membership and at least 10‑15 years UK-based building services design and management experience.
  • Location: Peterborough, Higham Ferrers, London or Birmingham.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible, under the leadership of the Director, for the project management of medium to large scale projects and individual engineering tasks for numerous schemes across client sectors. This will include the creation, development, and finalisation of engineering design solutions for electrical services elements, working with other team members and project teams together with direct liaison with the client and other design team professionals.

  • Technically manage a portfolio of engineering projects and critique team designs.
  • Manage workload of graduates, project engineers, senior engineers, principals across teams.
  • Professional and personal development of team members, performance reviews and mentoring.
  • Problem solving and innovation oversight across office or teams.
  • Ensure team members are fully briefed on project requirements.
  • Manage business of whole team or office: sales, revenue, and commercial aspects.
  • Prepare and manage fee quotations and scope of team work per project.
  • Identify and resolve problems early.
  • Win and manage business from existing and new clients within existing and potentially new sectors.
  • Create and pursue additional client opportunities.
  • Undertake active modelling, management and teaching of engineering competence.
  • Oversee and manage all designated team or office projects.
  • Direct manage, motivate and develop team.
  • Review and develop application of Rolton ethos.
  • Oversee and contribute to the full Profit & Loss for office or team, pricing, budgets, income and cost management.

  • Foul Drainage
  • Above Ground
  • Central Control / Building Management
  • Compressed Air
  • Hot and Cold Water
  • HVAC including ISO Clean/Dry Rooms
  • Steam

Qualifications & Skills

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) from CIBSE or IMechE.
  • Building services or architectural engineering degree and/or masters.
  • 10‑15 years UK-based hands‑on design and management experience.
  • High level of computer literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, Autodesk Revit MEP, National Building Specification (NBS), and EDSL Tas/IES VE.
  • Experience in automotive, commercial/industrial, retail, residential and education sectors; experience with steam and clean/dry rooms desirable.
  • Strong technical writing, project management, team leadership and mentoring skills.
