We are now recruiting for the exciting role of a Welding Engineer, to be involved in an industry-leading, cutting-edge project supporting the Royal Navy and its state-of-the-art nuclear-powered submarine fleet. The Welding Engineer will be primarily responsible for pursuing the development and implementation of various welding techniques, spanning across manual, automated and mechanised processes to meet all product and business requirements across the manufacture of Primary Circuit and Core components.

What You Will Be Doing
- Influence the design and manufacture of critical components within the Submarines Pressurised Water Reactor system.
- Select and implement appropriate welding techniques, processes and procedures to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives from concept through to delivery and implementation.
- Drive improvements in manufacturing processes, factory performance and production flow to maintain uninterrupted operations.
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing and Engineering teams, providing specialist welding and process expertise.
- Support shop-floor activities, including resolving non-conformances, conducting root-cause investigations and improving cell performance.
- Assist welders and manage Welder Qualifications in line with internal and industry standards.
- Contribute to manufacturing meetings and reviews to ensure SQCDP metrics are achieved and aligned with business goals.
Who We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role you will need to meet the following criteria:
- Professional welding qualifications are highly beneficial (e.g. International Institute of Welding (IIW) / European Welding Federation (EWF) Welding Engineer or Technologist status, IEng or CEng status, MSc Welding Engineering).
- Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g. UK minimum HND/foundation degree or other national equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
- Competent in identifying, developing, qualifying and justifying welding techniques in accordance with the relevant design code, ideally within a relevant industry.
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience of working to the requirements of boiler and pressure vessel design and manufacturing standards.
- Demonstrates that product and process safety is of paramount importance assuring products meet all regulatory, code, design and manufacturing and Quality Assurance requirements and complying with all applicable legislation and codes of professional conduct.
- Proven ability to define, plan, monitor and control projects, programmes and work packages, ensuring the work is delivered to cost, quality and schedule.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information in a simple and effective way, whilst creating methods of manufacture ensuring delivery of manufacturing capability and business requirements and meeting design intent.
- Ability to integrate well within a large organisation that operates in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are desirable.

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines, you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
