System Validation Engineer

The Systems Engineering, Validation & Verification group is recruiting Systems Engineering & Verification Engineers to fulfil exciting roles across our Defence Programmes. Rolls-Royce's customers and the company have entrusted us to deliver the future technologies, people, processes and programmes. Successful delivery of these programmes will ensure both the UK and Rolls-Royce retains combat capability, ensuring freedom of action for the UK and enabling the company to maintain our market share in the Naval, Defence Aero and combat markets.

As a Systems Engineering & Verification Engineer you will be the focal point for understanding and developing new engineering products and services. As part of this new team, you will be exploring and developing new system engineering practices within the company such as the use of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to assist in the understanding of potential business and technical architectures and solutions.

Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. As a minimum we're all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

• Lead Systems Engineering across the entire life-cycle.
• Integrate with and provide systems engineering coaching or training to engineers from other functions.
• Establish and maintain an appropriate information structure for the project (Customer, Business, System, Sub-System, and Component) and develop / maintain associated management plans.
• Represent Rolls-Royce as required on specific customer and partner working groups related to the project.
• Ensure project risks (technical, cost, supply chain and timescale) are identified, managed, and escalated in accordance with risk management plan.

They are the fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles:

• Be qualified to degree level in a STEM subject and with experience in a relevant engineering environment (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical or Controls).
• Be capable of systems level thinking and have evidence of their experience deploying Systems Engineering techniques to solve complex problems.
• Have evidence of their ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across different engineering disciplines.
• Preferably have a broad understanding of Gas Turbine functional operation and physical characteristics.
• Preferably have experience using Systems Engineering tools such as IBM DOORS or Cameo Systems Modeller and knowledge of standards such as ARP4754A/ED-79A.

To work for Rolls-Royce Defence you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don't currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must be eligible for SC Clearance.
