The Rolls-Royce Canada Limited team has an exciting opportunity as a Structural Systems Design Engineer (Finite Element Analysis Specialist). This role is based out of the Peterborough Ontario site and is part of the core Engineering team. You will perform and audit analysis on key structural components designed in-house and COTS parts when required. You will provide guidance on best practices and methods at our local facility and other Rolls-Royce locations.

As a Structural Systems Design Engineer, you will work with manufacturing engineering to support production queries involving complex problems. You will interact with customers and vendors to resolve technical issues and provide technical support.
At Rolls-Royce, innovation is our DNA. Our Peterborough location develops custom electro-mechanical solutions for Naval Defence and Marine customers.
Key Accountabilities:
- Conduct Static, Time History, and Spectral Structural Analysis to ensure safety and fitness for purpose.
- Conduct Vibration, Dynamic, and Mechanical Analysis to ensure safety and fitness for purpose.
- Audit and review analyses conducted by other engineers.
- Define and review local engineering processes to ensure best practices.
- Review cases from manufacturing engineering requiring specialized consideration.
- Address technical issues with customers and vendors as needed.
- Develop, review, and edit technical documents to support site needs.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor\’s Degree in Engineering or STEM field
- 10 years of experience, preferably with an FEA background
- Must be a Professional Engineer in good standing
- Proficiency in Ansys, SolidWorks EPDM, SAP, MS Office
- Canadian citizenship or Permanent Residency required
- Ability to obtain Canadian Controlled Goods and Security Clearance
Preferred Requirements:
- Strong communication skills with the engineering team
- Experience with Simulink
- Knowledge of Machine Tools and Welding Processes
- Ability to work independently within cross-functional teams
- Planning, organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills
