Job Description

Job Title: Shipping and Compliance Controller

Working Pattern: 37hours/week Monday to Friday (with potential for on call support, subject to business requirements)

Working location: Bristol onsite with opportunity for hybrid working once trained (3 days/week onsite)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Shipping and Compliance Controller to join our Defence Logistics team in Bristol. As a Shipping and Compliance controller you will be responsible for the generation of compliant shipping paperwork to enable Rolls-Royce Defence to ship our products all over the globe. This is a business-critical role and is the final point of contact for our customers prior to receiving their products.

As a Shipping & Compliance Controller you will be responsible for the generation of compliant shipping paperwork to enable Rolls-Royce Defence to ship our products all over the globe.

This role will require an individual to operate the shipping process ensuring compliance with agreed service levels, metrics and behaviours, including controlling service provision from our external logistics partners where appropriate. The successful candidate would be expected to operate and improve the services which support shipping operations to ensure full compliance to all procedures and processes that support Export Control, Customs/Tax, Airworthiness & Quality functions.

What You Will Be Doing

With this attractive opportunity you will get a chance to:

  • Adherence to Shipping KPIs – Understanding, measuring and reporting service provision performance against defined service level, cost and behavioural standards. (Global / Regional vendor code responsibility)
  • Shipping SME – be a subject matter expert on the shipping processes and share that knowledge with others within the company an externally.
  • Business Criticality Understanding – Have full understanding of shipping demand and capacity for operational service lines & service lines in development.
  • Communicate demand to logistics service providers, both internal & 3rd Party Logistics (3PL)
  • Export and Import trade compliance

  • Has external track record of controlling logistics services in a 3PL environment (desirable)
  • Has external track record of freight management and shipping (desirable)
  • (Or) Has completed Rolls-Royce Supply Chain Planning & Controls Graduate Training Scheme with attachment in Global Physical Logistics

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance.
