Job Description
Service Analysis Engineer
Full Time
Derby
This position is being advertised to form a pipeline of candidates for current and future positions within Civil Aerospace, therefore applicants should not expect feedback immediately. However, we will endeavour to review your CV in a timely manner.
What you will be doing
Lifecycle Engineering leads the in-service management strategies and instructions to assure a safe and reliable operation of our in-service products. We own the definition, integration, realisation and use of Engine Health Monitoring systems. We perform product attribute analysis to support our sales and product management processes. We work not only on in-service platforms but also to ensure a through-life-engineering mindset is embedded right from the earliest design phases.
How often will our products need maintenance? What deterioration modes will need addressing? How much will the maintenance cost? Answering questions like these is what enthuses the Product Service Analysis team within Lifecycle Engineering, and answering questions like these helps Rolls-Royce to improve and support our products, keeping us at the top of our game.
We are seeking an analytical engineer to help us develop the processes, methods, tools and training for the future of this capability. We are looking for someone who values the detail as much as they can appreciate the bigger picture and who is ready to take the individual steps even as they chart the journey of 1000 miles.
Why Rolls-Royce?
Rolls-Royce is one of the most enduring and iconic brands in the world and has been at the forefront of innovation for over a century. We design, build and service systems that provide critical power to customers where safety and reliability are paramount.
We are proud to be a force for progress, powering, protecting, and connecting people everywhere.
We want to ensure that the excellence and ingenuity that has shaped our history continues into our future, and we need people like you to come and join us on this journey.
We\’ll provide an environment of caring and belonging where you can be yourself. An inclusive, innovative culture that invests in you, gives you access to an incredible breadth and depth of opportunities where you can grow your career and make a difference.
What we offer
We offer excellent development opportunities, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.
Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It\’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we\’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.
Responsibilities

  • Understand the business requirements to be served by our data management, analysis and modelling activities
  • Assess our existing capability against these requirements for its effectiveness, efficiency, vulnerabilities and longevity
  • Design capability additions and improvements, working across processes, methods, tools, data flows and training
  • Implement the additions and improvements locally, or work with key partners such as our software development teams to implement them in our executive systems
  • Identify and/or retire any defunct capability
  • Communicate resulting capability changes to affected practitioners, influencing their communities to drive effective engagement in their ways of working

Who we\’re looking for:
At Rolls-Royce we put safety first, do the right thing, keep it simple and make a difference. These principles form the behaviours that guide us and are an essential component of our assessment process. They are the fundamental qualities that we seek for all roles.

  • Engineering or Numerical degree (or equivalent with experience)
  • Good understanding of the turbo machinery of aero-engines: their development, operations and failure mechanisms
  • Experience in statistical in-service/life data analysis methods (e.g. System Reliability Analysis, Weibull & other parametric distributions, Monte Carlo Simulations)
  • Proven ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems. Proven ability to handle complexity, novelty and ambiguity.
  • Experience with agile IT development in order to work effectively with professionals of that field
  • Good communication skills to be able to cooperate with and influence both internal and external parties, at all levels of the business
  • Result driven, being able to work with minimal supervision
  • Self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Skilled at working within a team-oriented, collaborative environment or as a sole contributor on identified projects.
  • Experience of delivering projects through cross-functional teams

We are an equal opportunities employer. We\’re committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives which are crucial to innovation and problem solving. We believe the more diverse perspectives we have, the more successful we\’ll be. By building a culture of caring and belonging, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realise their full potential.
We welcome applications from people with a refugee background.
