An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced engineers to join our Submarines business in Derby. We are looking for engineers with a passion for simulation and analysis to join our team of Nuclear Core and Systems Performance Engineers. In this role you will perform analysis of the Naval Reactor Plant and in doing so develop a broad understanding of core thermal hydraulics, reactor plant operation and protection systems.
This is an outstanding opportunity to work at the forefront of reactor performance analysis, supporting the in-service fleet as well as developing future reactor core and systems designs. Due to the sensitive nature of our work, this role will be based permanently at our offices in Derby. There is an opportunity for occasional business travel to our waterfront locations in Plymouth, Faslane and Barrow-In-Furness.
Our Submarines business is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply and through-life support of nuclear propulsion-related products and systems in support of the Royal Navy's submarine fleet.

What you will be doing: You will carry out fluid flow and heat transfer analysis to support robust design evaluation of the Naval Reactor Plant, including:
- Using a combination of commercial and in-house developed codes and methods to assess primary systems and their components, determining the consequences of a variety of normal operation and accident scenarios.
- Performing development, verification and validation of models used in the analysis of the nuclear plant.
Who we are looking for: We are looking for engineers with experience in:
- Applying fluid dynamics and heat transfer principles to solve engineering problems.
- Building and developing analytical models.
- Simulating and/or analysing fluid systems.
To be successful in this role, you will also need to:
- Be qualified to degree level or equivalent in a STEM-related subject e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics or similar.
- Be able to provide clear, concise and accurate technical requirements in written and verbal form.
- Have excellent communication skills and be highly driven, striving to maintain excellent delivery performance.
