An exciting opportunity has arisen with the Precision casting facility for a Proof Inspector. The Precision Casting Facility manufactures single crystal and directionally solidified turbine blades for civil aerospace.
As a Proof Inspector, you’ll be responsible for the proof inspection of blades / fixtures and associated equipment in relation to blade inspection, working to blade, tooling, manufacture and finish drawings.

Key Accountabilities
- Will be required to programme a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) thorough MCOSOMOS Mitutoyo software, to enable the creation of calibration programmes for fixtures, model blades, Op proving and FAIR programmes to validate the production inspection processes.
- Will be required to programme 3D structured light system (GOM ScanBox,) and analyse the data using Polyworks IMInspect software for supporting calibration, tooling, reference data collection, and FAIR programme support to validate the production inspection process.
- Work closely with Operations and Engineering in order to ensure work prioritisation and timely shop floor support with CMM and GOM asset and programmes troubleshooting as required.
- Using inspection and sine tables, ball pins, slip gauges, various micrometers, verniers, height gauges, etc. Making in-depth calculations; trigonometry and mathematical formula, using a calculator.
- Carry out First Article Inspection (FAI) on all new blades, using ‘free’ table set ups in order to prove the integrity of production and inspection fixtures.
- Meeting all blade inspection standards, Quality Assurance Standard (QAS) audit of blade records, storing and recording master blades. Conforming to expect inspection and quality disciplines. Have personalised stamp for records purposes.
Requirements
- Experience in Operating and Programming CMM machines.
- Experience in programming in Polyworks or other CAD software.
- Casting, Machining and Tooling Drawing Appreciation including geometric and dimensional tolerancing (ASME & ISO Standards).
- Trigonometry calculations including compound angles.
- First Principles Measurement using sine tables, height gauges, sine bars and slip gauges etc.
