Overview

Requirements An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quality Engineer to join our Quality team. This role is part of the Programme Quality Engineer structure. The main function of this role is to ensure that Contractual Quality Requirements for products or services are understood, captured and flowed down through the business to ensure we meet regulatory, contractual and customer requirements. This role will also support the assigned programmes activities.

  • Engaging with partners to align quality objectives
  • Leading / supporting resolution of investigations related to customer complaints
  • Working with suppliers to ensure quality standards are understood and met
  • Where required, manage non-conformance through the agreed corporate methods and systems
  • Leading and conducting compliance audits and reviews
  • Monitoring day-to-day operational activities to ensure compliance in line with contractual deliverables

What You Will Be Doing

  • Acting as the Quality focal point for assessing and capturing quality-related contractual requirements
  • Ensuring contract deliverables are understood and flowed down through applicable quality documentation, creating and/or maintaining quality plans as applicable
  • Analysing contracts for quality content that should be captured within the Quality Plan and associated Compliance Matrix
  • Holding meetings with the customer to create and accept mutually agreed contract deliverable quality plans
  • Ensuring commercial, programme and key stakeholders are consulted and committed to the contract requirements
  • Ensuring required tasks are completed on time and to the required standard
  • Capturing lessons learned from other programmes on managing quality and flowing them into the programme
  • Managing quality relationships within a partnership environment (internal & external meetings, presentations, non-conformance management, etc.)
  • Deputising for the Quality Executive as required
  • Supporting the business’s internal & external audit programme as a lead/support auditor
  • Conducting improvement projects to improve the efficiency or effectiveness of a process using appropriate quality improvement tools
  • Delivering and maintaining quality system processes consistent with RRMS
  • Supporting allocated programme as the Defence Programme Quality Engineer
  • Conducting/facilitating root cause investigations into customer escapes and ensuring containment where necessary
  • Leading the resolution of quality-related customer complaints to maintain customer satisfaction
  • Attending programme review meetings and reporting status of quality issues
  • Maintaining the skill levels and training required to undertake the role

Who We’re Looking For

  • Self-starter
  • Good stakeholder management
  • Application of problem-solving process techniques (5 whys, RCA, 8D); training can be provided
  • Knowledge of Green Belt and process improvement methodologies
  • Auditor or Lead Auditor
  • Extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements and international quality standards
  • Good IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI), and SAP
  • Knowledge of the RRMS and ability to navigate the system
  • Understanding of products and processes used within our facilities
  • Confidence to communicate effectively within the business and with customers at all levels
