An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead delivery of part of the Defence Combat strategy. In this role, you will be accountable for providing project leadership for delivery of key growth aspects of the Combat strategy. The role will be accountable for delivery of key work packages and activities include delivery of new capabilities, technologies and products.

What you will be doing:

  • Be a prime interface with our customer and international partners on the GCAP International Programme, ensuring thorough application of PM principles and governance.
  • Creating a high performing and engaged team, setting mindset and culture expectations through modelling Rolls-Royce Behaviours and Values.
  • Lead and accelerate delivery for the team through planning, commitment and execution of technical work packages to the required schedule, cost and quality requirements.
  • Manage Schedule, Budget and Risk for project scope including integration with parent programmes and reporting to customer.
  • Defining Ways of Working for the project team, including planning, risk and execution approach (e.g. agile and waterfall) and compliance with required Programme Governance and Quality Systems.
  • Defining and securing delivery resources, working closely with function and capabilities leads.
  • Lead the team to relentlessly improve and accelerate delivery by removing impediments and developing enablers.

Position qualifications:

  • Proven track record of leadership and delivery in fast paced product development context including experience in complex hardware projects.
  • Experience of managing or coordinating projects or programmes in unfamiliar contexts or subjects.
  • Experience in application of a variety programmatic skills and methodologies (including Agile) to deliver novel technical work packages.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong personal philosophy for what makes great teams.
  • Original and creative problem solver with passion for learning and for supporting the learning of others.
  • Demonstrates resilience – a self-starter, able to deal with ambiguity and seeks positive action in the face of adversity.
  • Cultural awareness to manage diverse international teams.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Defence business, an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets we can only progress applications from individuals who are a UK national or, in MOD and Government body approved cases, a dual national.

The professional level and the salary of the position will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
