We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer within the Naval Defense organization based in Peterborough, ON. This high-profile role offers direct exposure to a diverse portfolio of Naval Handling Equipment programs. The Electrical Design Engineer will develop electrical systems from an architectural concept to a physical design that can be manufactured and tested.

Key Accountabilities

  • Analyze and translate high-level requirements and applicable standards into electrical design requirements.
  • Liaise with other disciplines to understand functional performance capabilities of components of the system to facilitate effective electrical design.
  • Design and implement electrical designs to meet requirements including testability.
  • Analyze electrical designs for functional behavior, which may include modeling and simulation to demonstrate that the design meets high-level requirements.
  • Develop and review electrical tests that will provide evidence to demonstrate that the electrical requirements have been satisfied.
  • Analyze verification test results against electrical requirements; produce reports and associated documentation.
  • Manage testing at third-party test houses.
  • Support system-level testing at our facility and in the field.

Qualifications

  • A recognized electrical engineering degree and eligible to gain a license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) as a P. Eng.
  • Work experience of 2–3 years, preferably in the electrical field.
  • Proficiency in English with a high level of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada for more than 5 years.
  • Must pass Canadian Controlled Goods and Reliability Security Clearance Checks.

Preferred Requirements

  • Comfortable working with large equipment.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to support product commissioning/testing in the field.
  • Experience with industrial control systems (PLC, HMI) would be advantageous.
