An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in the Bristol Turbines Facility. The BTF is a growing and high technology business unit within the Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace Supply Chain. The BTF is a high-volume facility that manufactures high pressure single crystal Turbine Nozzle Guide Vanes through casting and then machining.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be working in the BTF Manufacturing Engineering continuous improvement team. The successful candidate will provide technical support to operations and execute Manufacturing Engineering activities to develop, maintain and continuously improve manufacturing processes and/or methods of manufacture, which are capable of meeting and continuing to meet business and customer requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time (SQCD).

What you will be doing:

  • Ensure manufacturing processes are fully compliant with Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, maintaining a safe and sustainable working environment.
  • Ensure that manufacturing processes are capable of achieving and sustaining the design definition, and that processes are followed so that our parts conform to their specification (including sub-tier suppliers).
  • Promote a culture of zero defects and ensure that digital systems are developed and deployed to support Right First-Time manufacturing, guaranteeing product quality and conformity.
  • Develop, implement, validate, maintain and continuously improve manufacturing processes, digital systems and/or methods of manufacture which are capable of meeting and continue to meet requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time.
  • Capture, analyse and use data to demonstrate and improve the current and future capability of manufacturing processes.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g. UK minimum HND/foundation degree or other national equivalent) or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes (laser, grinding, milling and EDM) is essential and knowledge of coating processes (plating, thermal spray and vapour deposition) is desirable but not essential.
  • Alternatively, strong knowledge of investment casting processes is essential and knowledge of single crystal casting processes is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven track record in technical problem-solving, along with a solid understanding of Six Sigma / Lean methodologies.
  • Proficiency with manufacturing systems such as CAPP, MES, SAP, and technical documentation, with the ability to optimize production processes using these tools.
  • Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal skills and the drive to deliver within a challenging, high volume, production environment.
