We are seeking an experienced Mechanical design engineer with expertise in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) and Building Services to join the Infrastructure Design Authority, acting as the Intelligent Customer and SME for all aspects related to HVAC systems and Building Services/Utilities.

What you will be doing

  • Ensure the design intent for HVAC and Building Services Infrastructure is preserved throughout each asset’s lifecycle.
  • Confirm appropriate, current design standards are established and adhered to for HVAC and Building Services Infrastructure operated by RRSL.
  • Deliver design, modification, and build assurance in support of the relevant Rolls-Royce Design Authorities.
  • Oversee and assure the safe operation, inspection, and maintenance of RRSL’s HVAC and Building Services Infrastructure.
  • Take responsibility for approving and assuring significant changes to infrastructure operated by RRSL.

Who we’re looking for

  • Experienced in the design, construction, and operation of regulated and conventional infrastructure within the UK.
  • Knowledgeable about current Euro Codes, British Standards, Codes of Practice, and relevant Guidance Documents.
  • Familiarity with the Nuclear sector and its working practices is desirable.
  • Able to apply a pragmatic, risk-based approach, supported by strong technical capability, problem-solving skills, and sound decision-making.
  • A degree-qualified Chartered Engineer registered with a relevant professional body, such as the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) or the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). (Desirable)

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines Business an individual has to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the Business conducts and the protection of certain assets a person has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non ITAR.

As part of our selection process, candidates in certain locations may be asked to complete an online assessment, which can include cognitive and behavioural aptitude testing relevant to the role. If required, full instructions for the next steps will be provided.
