We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Services Technician – Tooling Technician to join the team in Trentham.

What you will be doing:

You will be responsible for manufacturing and repairing a variety of tooling, dies, machining and inspection fixtures. You will be responsible for maintaining the fixtures onsite adhering to fixture care plans.

  • Perform a range of routine, reactive maintenance on dies and fixtures across a broad range of manufacturing assets and production equipment across a plant, site or business, to ensure that manufacturing equipment is safe, available and capable for use when required.
  • Polishing of complex injection moulds using a range of equipment and techniques to a high standard.
  • Utilise precision diagnostic instruments.
  • Analyse equipment data to inform and implement the most effective approach towards repair, make or modification.
  • Collect, organise, and analyse data in support of Key Performance Indicators for the Manufacturing Services Department as required.
  • Read and interpret manufacturing drawings.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to tooling, dies, machining and inspection fixtures.
  • Suggest improvements to work instructions to optimise the maintenance strategy.
  • Work with site Manufacturing Engineers to help understand and implement requirements.
  • Work alongside/support equipment OEM engineers as required.
  • Consistently perform asset maintenance activities in order to ensure that equipment and facilities are safe and reliable to a high performance standard.
  • Support the effective induction of new team members and support cross-training of other team members.
  • Utilise problem solving skills and ability to make sound recommendations based on judgement, training and previous experience.
  • Able to complete and maintain documentation and records in accordance with the company's defined products as well as support business control and audit requirements.
  • Safely operate site specific equipment as required with appropriate training.

Who we're looking for:

  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent in relevant time served apprenticeship preferred, but not essential.
  • Polishing experience using a range of hand, rotary and ultrasonic techniques is essential.
  • Ability to use and understand hand gauges, inspection equipment and computerised measuring equipment.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Experience in operating machine tools.
  • Basic IT literacy.
  • Understanding of local and regional HSE Standards and regulations.
