Overview
In this context, we are looking for an Engineering Capability Lead - Standards, reporting to the Senior Manager - Engineering Governance and Process. As an individual contributor influencing a broad stakeholder group, this role will define, embed and evolve our standards framework—playing a critical role in delivering a safe, compliant and repeatable SMR design.
Responsibilities
- Shaping and governing the organisation-wide approach to engineering standards, ensuring consistent selection and application
- Developing and embedding processes for managing International and bespoke standards, ensuring traceability and compliance
- Overseeing the authoring, review and lifecycle control of internal standards, supporting quality and usability
- Enabling access to standards across our engineering community whilst contributing to industry-wide harmonisation and best practice
- This is a pivotal, high-impact role where you'll bring strategic thinking, credibility and influencing capability to shape how engineering standards enable safe, scalable nuclear delivery.
Qualifications
- A degree in Engineering (or equivalent practical experience within a standards or technical governance environment)
- Experience shaping standards frameworks and driving adoption across complex engineering organisations
- Strong knowledge of engineering standards, regulatory alignment, and technical documentation
- Experience applying systems thinking, audit/assurance principles, and translating requirements into structured, practical solutions, Obtaining Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance
- Satisfactory completion of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
- Satisfactory completion of a basic financial probity check
Remuneration and Benefits
- Salary: £60,000 - £78,750
- Bonus - Performance related target opportunity 7%
- Benefits Allowance - £2,200 per annum
- Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions
- Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days

Selection Process
The selection process will include an initial conversation with Talent Acquisition followed by two interview stages. Due to the nature of our industry, candidates will be required to obtain BPSS clearance and complete DBS and financial probity checks.
