Laboratory Technologist – Inchinnan

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Technologist to join our team in Inchinnan.

In this role, you will ensure compliance with processes and standards, as well as develop and control the special processes required to support the manufacturing of components.

You will ensure that engineering specifications are met for new part introduction and ongoing manufacturing. Additionally, you will be responsible for continuous improvement, process compliance & control, troubleshooting, detailed investigations, and non-conformance assessment.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure process compliance with national and international standards through shop floor instructions and audit participation.
  • Interpret design and engineering requirements, ensuring shop applications remain compliant.
  • Approve process data cards, procedures, drawings, and methods of manufacture for both domestic and external supply parts.
  • Maintain operator training and qualification for special processes, updating as specifications change.
  • Compile component-specific Rationalised Quality Specifications (RQSCs) and technical instructions.
  • Lead teams to improve processes and resolve manufacturing issues, potentially using Green Belt or Black Belt methodologies.
  • Evaluate microstructure and accept test samples from various alloys and components at different manufacturing stages.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities to reduce process variation and centralize data capture.
  • Support the selection and commissioning of new processing equipment.

Candidate Profile:

We seek individuals who prioritize safety, integrity, simplicity, and impact. Essential qualities include understanding health and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemical Processing, or Engineering; working towards or holding Chartered Engineer status or equivalent experience.
  • Strong communication skills and a data-driven problem-solving approach.
  • Knowledge of NUCAP/Nadcap processes is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of chemical processing, surface enhancement, thermal heat treatment, and metallic joining processes is advantageous.
