We have an exciting opportunity for a Performance Engineer to join our Global Mechanical Systems Capability function.
This role involves design, simulation and verification of engines/aircraft at whole system level to predict and verify emergent system attributes which arise from the integration of sub-system components. The role encompasses a wide range of technical activities ranging from development of models from engineering first principles, 1D thermodynamic simulation, empirical modelling, detailed 3D CFD assessment, understanding of certification requirements and physical testing.
In addition, the role requires integration skills to allow requirements, data and product understanding to be gathered and disseminated across various stakeholders (e.g. internal sub-system and component teams, airframers, regulatory authorities and customers).
What you will be doing:
- Own the definition of the product cycle.
- Provide prediction and analysis of product attributes at the whole system/platform level.
- Gather, manage and disseminate requirements from/to a range of internal and external customers.
- Provide data to sub-systems for product design and development.
- Define and manage system and product interfaces.
- Provide insight into product/aircraft interaction.
- Provide insight and analysis of real world operation and customer usage.
- Manage relationships with internal and external customers.
Who we’re looking for:
- Bachelor's degree or Master’s in Engineering or regional equivalent qualification, or equivalent experience.
- Strong technical knowledge in mechanical design methodologies and have an understanding of cross-discipline engineering concepts which include but are not limited to manufacturing engineering, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, thermal and mechanical analysis, cost engineering and product definition.
- An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems and make balanced decisions across technical and business parameters.
- Knowledge and experience of product integrity/liability and certification frameworks.
- Membership of a relevant professional body appropriate to region. In the UK - attained/working towards Chartered status is preferred (and equivalent regional variations).
- Good communication and presentation skills at all levels of the organisation.
