This role involves providing technical support to Original Equipment Manufacture and executing core Manufacturing Engineering activities to develop, maintain and continuously improve manufacturing processes and/or methods of manufacture, which are capable of meeting and continuing to meet business and customer requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time (SQCD). This role provides a great opportunity for personal development.
What you will be doing:
- HSE - Ensure that manufacturing processes are in full compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental Standards and meet the expectations of the Zero Harm programme.
- Product Safety - Ensure that manufacturing processes are capable of achieving and sustaining the design definition, and that processes are followed so that our products and those of our suppliers conform to their specification. Rigorously raise, investigate and resolve safety related issues.
- Quality - Drive a culture of zero defects. Ensure compliance with all relevant company, legislative and technical policies and standards including RRMS, SABRe and Export Control and Intellectual Property requirements. Own and deliver activities to improve Right First Time and reduce Cost of Non-Quality.
- Develop Capability - Develop, implement, validate, maintain and continuously improve manufacturing processes, digital systems and/or methods of manufacture which are capable of meeting and continue to meet requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time. Capture, analyse and use data to demonstrate and improve the current and future capability of manufacturing processes.
- Minimum standards - Working with the Manufacturing Engineering Commodity Leaders and Manufacturing Process Owners, drive manufacturing processes towards identified consistent best practice.
Position qualifications:
- Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g. UK minimum HND/foundation degree or other national equivalent).
- Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Manufacturing Systems Engineering.
- Recognised national or international engineering accreditation (e.g. UK IEng or CEng) where available.
- General understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to their business.
- General awareness of Manufacturing Systems and enabling software tools relevant to the business.
- Understanding of Manufacturing Engineering processes relevant to their role.
Preferred requirements:
- Background and experience within a machining environment.
- Understanding/knowledge of multiple disciplines demonstrating breadth of experience.
- Appreciation of product integrity.
- Has a proven track record delivering improved operational performance in both favourable and unfavourable conditions, utilising cross-functional teams.
- Has experience deploying continuous improvement methodologies such as lean and six sigma, ideally with Green Belt accreditation.
