An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Structural Integrity Engineer to join the Electrical, Electronics, Software, Control System Design and Product Security (E24S) team in the UK.
As a E24S Structural Integrity Engineer you will analyse and ensure the structural and mechanical performance of a variety of components, e.g. electrical machines, power electronic converters, Electric Engine Control (EEC) units, energy storage systems (battery). In this position you will support our engineering products throughout their entire life cycle; working with Design, System, Safety, Service, and Airworthiness Engineers to ensure our products meet company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
E24S supports a global footprint that supports all our operating sectors of Civil Aerospace, Defence, Nuclear and Power Systems.
What you will be doing:
- Design, analyse, and simulate various electrical components and sub-systems using a variety of methodologies, e.g. linear, dynamic, thermomechanical, non-linear, rotordynamic, impact, shock.
- Assemble, interpret, and report a combination of structural simulations, experimental results, and first principle analyses into a cohesive understanding of component and sub-system capabilities as measured against requirements and optimise products to deliver world leading solutions.
- Develop new methods and introduce novel technologies into future products.
- Practice continuous improvement principles by using and updating best practices, process automation, and eliminating wasteful process steps.
Key Experiences and any Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or Master's in Engineering or regional equivalent qualification, or equivalent experience.
- Strong technical knowledge in mechanical design and structural analysis.
- An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems and make balanced decisions across technical and business parameters.
- Membership of a relevant professional body appropriate to region. In the UK - attained/working towards Chartered status is preferred (and equivalent regional variations).
- Good communication and presentation skills at all levels of the organisation.
Preferred:
- Familiarity using analysis tools such as Ansys, NX, sc03, Comsol, LS Dyna.
- Proficient with linear statics, dynamics, thermomechanical, non-linear statics, rotordynamics, impact and shock analysis and testing.
- Knowledge of electrical machines or electronic units/components.
- Evidence of delivery within regulation and compliance driven industries such as aerospace, marine or nuclear.
