We have an exciting opportunity for a PWR3 Integrated Product Support (IPS) engineer to join our Rolls-Royce Submarines Availability Centre in Derby. The IPS Engineer will have extensive experience in the maintenance of nuclear reactor plants to join a team working to build the support solution for our next generation of PWR3 powered Dreadnought Class and SSN AUKUS submarines. The role will also partially cover supporting current class platforms.

The PWR3 IPS Engineer will initially be aligned to the development of maintenance task information to support the smooth transition of the next class of submarine into service. This will involve producing & guiding others to produce maintenance details & technical documentation for a nuclear reactor plant. Ensuring the information is optimised to best support ships staff and considers obtaining feedback to allow future improvements. Further variety to the role will include developing the wider support solution for Dreadnought and future platforms. This may include further forms of technical documentation, availability analysis, maintenance optimisation, spares & support equipment identification. You will be interacting with the customers, other industry partners as well as internal stakeholders at varying levels of seniority, and will be accountable for delivering and overseeing technical work.

What you will be doing:

  • Developing detail for Dreadnought maintenance tasks
  • Guiding others on the production of maintenance task details
  • Delivering work packages to build other aspects of the Dreadnought Support solution (e.g. other technical documents, spares/support equipment identification, etc)
  • Working closely with an array of stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Working to ensure that the nuclear reactors for the future classes of submarines have a great support solution.

Position Qualifications:

  • Submarine operational knowledge (Nuclear Watchkeeper CAT A)
  • Technical degree or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • Good communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage your own work and guide others in theirs.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and deliver a high quality output.
  • Collaborative with strong stakeholder management capabilities.

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don't currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
