An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maximo Developer to join Rolls-Royce Submarines. We’re a leader in propulsion system design and development for the Royal Navy’s nuclear submarine fleet and the sole provider and technical authority. Our submarines business is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply and through-life support of nuclear propulsion-related products and systems in support of the Royal Navy's submarine fleet.

The Service Data Management (SDM) Project is an ongoing project within Rolls-Royce Submarines rationalising executive and non-executive systems to simplify the management of in-service data used across the Submarines engineering population. Maximo is the IBM enterprise asset management software selected as the tool of choice. Using this software has enabled the Submarines business to reduce data management load, simplify data entry, integrated data quality/governance and provide more holistic reporting capabilities.

You will be taking new engineering data sources discovered by the Data Transformation project and migrating into Maximo to make the data accessible to the Submarines engineering population. The project will also continually maintain existing functionality within Maximo, through bug fixing and improvements identified through end user feedback.

What we offer:

  • Excellent development opportunities
  • Competitive salary
  • Exceptional benefits including bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

What you will be doing:

  • Responsible for development and configuration of IBM Maximo to host new engineering data sources
  • Participation in every part of the software development life cycle encompassing design, document, develop, test and release
  • Analysing and resolving software errors to improve applications
  • Conducting extensive unit testing of applications, including the use of automated testing tools
  • Travel to UK Rolls-Royce satellite offices as required for demonstrations, User Acceptance Testing and stakeholder collaboration

Who we’re looking for:

To be successful in this role you will need to have a positive can-do attitude and embrace challenges. We also ask for:

  • Experience providing support to customers or end users
  • Experience of working with requirements, including the ability to provide advice on technical content where required
  • Experience with the creation of documentation such as Test Scripts and Training Guides
  • Appropriate Software accreditation in chosen discipline, such as IBM Maximo Certification or equivalent (desirable)
  • Awareness of alignment with Cognos reporting

We are an equal opportunities employer. We’re committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives which are crucial to innovation and problem solving.
