Based in Derby, you will join the Test & Experimental Manufacturing Engineering team and work closely with shop-floor process operators. You will have day-to-day technical responsibility for the chemical cleaning process line, ensuring that all associated plant and equipment operate correctly, safely and reliably.

What you will be doing:

  • Process Documentation and Technical Support
    • Create, maintain and control local Process Instruction Manuals (PIMs), applying a sound understanding of material properties and chemical interactions.
    • Act as the first point of contact for technical issues relating to process washing.
    • Provide technical advice on processing methods and application techniques.
  • Training and Process Control
    • Train personnel to assess and authorise parts for cleaning in accordance with PIMs, and to record the required information in SAP.
  • Improvement and Compliance
    • Lead improvement projects through the relevant programme management gates.
    • Apply company control standards, ensuring compliance and driving continuous improvement.
    • Use knowledge and experience of CS54 Process Safety Management to support safe, compliant operations.
  • Product Introduction and Chemical Safety
    • Introduce newly approved products in response to legislative changes and company directives.
    • Maintain a strong working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation, and complete chemical risk assessments.

Position qualifications:

  • Master's degree with 3+ years of experience in a Chemistry environment, OR In lieu of degree, 9 + years of experience in a Chemistry environment.

Preferred requirements:

  • Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to deliver in a challenging environment.
  • Be able to work both individually and as a member of a multi-skilled leadership team.
  • Highly motivated and comfortable leading technical activities.
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing operations environment.
  • High level of self-motivation, flexibility to operate in a changing manufacturing environment, must be comfortable interacting with individuals from all levels of the business.
  • Previous knowledge of gas turbine assembly methods is desirable; however mentoring is available for those candidates without.
