An exciting opportunity has arisen for an International Tax Business Partner to join the Group Tax team. Reporting to the Head of International Tax, this role has a specific focus on the Group’s international tax affairs and acts as a global contact for international tax matters across more than 40 territories (excluding the US and Germany). The role requires close collaboration with tax specialists and professionals across the global organisation. A key aspect of the position is driving value and minimising tax risk across the Group while acting as a trusted business partner to both the Civil business and the M&A team, providing expertise to support informed decision making.
What you will be doing:
- As a tax leader, model the Rolls-Royce behaviours and leadership expectations and play a role in the leadership across the tax team contributing to team development and functional strategy.
- Responsible for ensuring the Group meets its global tax compliance obligations in all overseas locations (other than the US and Germany). This will involve working across the Rolls-Royce tax team with our transfer pricing specialists, Corporate & Compliance tax teams and international tax teams, as well as liaising with our external advisor network.
- Collaborating closely with Governance, Legal, Global Mobility, Treasury, HR and Finance teams to ensure alignment of tax, contractual, compliance and growth strategies, mitigating risk and creating value.
- Business partnering with the Civil business to ensure tax matters are understood, opportunities are sought and captured, and risks are minimised.
- Business partnering with the M&A team to design and implement tax-efficient structures for international deals.
- Defending the Group’s tax positions in government audits and regulatory proceedings.
- Advising the businesses and leadership teams on tax implications and risks associated with complex cross border transactions relating to new and existing business. Working with our global advisor network to source relevant tax advice when required.
- Negotiating favourable tax clauses with customers, ensuring financial efficiency and risk mitigation.
- Support with tax analysis and administration of permanent establishments and foreign branches.
- Collecting, analysing, and validating data from various stakeholders within the Group to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including sales representatives, field engineers, and divisional management, providing hands-on tax support.
- Monitoring international legislative developments, evaluating implications and application to the Group, ensuring that relevant stakeholders are aware of these developments, implications and application.
- Contributing to international elements of group reporting and forecasting.
- Actively engaging in ongoing improvement initiatives with a view to improving processes.
- Contributing to the training of businesses and functions to ensure tax risks are understood and appropriately managed.
- Managing ad hoc projects and advice in support of the Head of International Tax.
Position Qualifications:
- Degree level qualification or equivalent.
- Professional tax qualification or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualified experience.
- Experience working in international tax within practice or industry.
- Experience of business partnering.
- Experience managing dispute resolutions.
Preferred Requirements:
- Expertise in permanent establishments and Pillar 2 of BEPS 2.0.
- Strong commercial and business acumen.
- Ability to influence and collaborate across multiple jurisdictions, businesses and functions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters to non-tax specialists.
